Click fraud

There are still quite a few pitfalls in investing in PPC these include

  • Click Fraud which in too many cases still goes undetected by the likes of Google.
  • We have proven our own technique with which it is possible to commit adwords click fraud. We have also proven that this method is undetectable by Google ( clearly we don't use it for financial gain but as a proof of concept ).
  • We have devised an analytics method by which we can detect PPC click fraud but it is only possible by running software on the client's web site. We have notified Google of this flaw in the Google Adwords system and are awaiting their feedback.
  • It should be noted that although we can detect this fraud within the clients site we cannot see anyway that Google could use the Adwords system to detect this fraud. We believe that Google would like to but as it's impossible then we really don't see what google can do other than keep the issue quiet. The alterative seems to be that they would face a disastrous loss of confidence in the Adsense system and Google's revenue would plummet.

PPC bombing

  • The next biggest point of failure for paid inclusion is that it is still the refuge of some very unscrupulous people. These people manipulate and abuse keyword costs and other companies keyword campaigns for their own advantage. This is a modern day version of PPC bombing and still alive and very much a problem in the paid inclusion market today.

PPC audience loss of confidence

  • One final problem of paid inclusion is that people don't trust it anymore. There is considerable negativity building toward the usefulness of the whole system. This certainly leaves Google in a quandary as Adsense / Adwords are a huge part of Google's global revenue. Something must change.... so watch this space.
